Exploring the Quiet Luxury of Jenn-Air Dishwashers

Jenn-Air TriFecta Dishwasher Available at Friedmans Appliance

As far as modern kitchen conveniences go, dishwashers are one of our favorites! When purchasing a new unit, there are plenty of options available, but few of them can beat the quiet luxury of Jenn-Air dishwashers. Read on to learn about a few of our favorite product features.

Cleaning Powers: Your dishwasher is first and foremost a functional tool. With that in mind, your first priority should be to find a model with maximum cleaning and drying power. Jenn-Air dishwashers feature a patented TriFecta Wash System, which includes a three-step cleaning process that helps to ensure all of your dishes come out squeaky clean. The system’s premiere cleaning performance is also accompanied by increased water and energy efficiency. In addition, Jenn-Air dishwashers offer a markedly quiet performance.

Features: While all units offer exceptional Jenn-Air cleaning power, the additional features and options available are seemingly endless. For example, many units offer multiple wash cycles, including a heavy wash cycle for large loads, a china setting for use with delicate dishes and stemware, and a plate warmer cycle for quickly heating plates prior to entertaining. Other options include a Super Scrub mode, designed to enhance cleaning on heavy residue loads with the use of additional heat and water, and a Top Rack mode. The latter, created for use with small loads, uses less water and energy, while still delivering ideal cleaning results.

Finishing Options: All Jenn-Air dishwashers are designed to fit into standard cabinetry as under counter built-ins and include spacious interior racks, perfect for large loads. However, to better customize your dishwasher to fit into your home, a wide variety of finishing options are available. Whether you opt for one of the brand’s three stainless steel finishes, a black or white metal finish, or choose to go instead with custom cabinetry panels, your dishwasher can be adapted to complement your kitchen’s existing aesthetic.

Factors to Consider When You Are in the Market for a New Refrigerator

Friedmans Showroom

As one of the most used appliances in your kitchen, your refrigerator is undeniably a vital tool for you and your family. However, replacing it can be a bit of a challenge. With hundreds of makes and models available on the market today, determining which features you can pass on and which ones you can’t live without can be a challenge in and of itself. Read on for some key considerations to take into account when purchasing a new refrigerator.

Sizes: The first determination that you will need to make when purchasing your refrigerator is the size of the space that you are working with. Measure the room that you have available for the new refrigerator and note any nearby obstacles that you may need to consider, such as a kitchen island, other appliances, or walls.

Styles: The next decision that you will need to make will be in regards to style. A wide range of options are available, including French-door models, top freezer or bottom freezer models, and side-by-side units. Consider the pros and cons of each. Oftentimes, the size of the space available in your kitchen will play a role in determining the appropriate style. For example, if you have limited room, you will want to consider a side-by-side refrigerator, since its narrow doors require less swing space than those of traditional models. However, you should also consider your grocery store habits. If your family tends to have more frozen food than fresh, you want to look for a model with larger freezer space. If your preference is towards fresh foods, you will need to look for a unit with a larger refrigeration component.

Features: With so many options available today, there is a feature available to meet nearly any need. When determining what features are appropriate for you, consider those that will offer the most convenience. Even simple things such as gallon size door bins for storing milk and wide storage drawers can make the difference between a kitchen helper and kitchen hindrance.

How to Design a Professional-Quality Kitchen with Viking Ranges and Refrigeration

Viking.Appliance_Friedmans.Appliance_Concord

Established in 1983, Viking strives to provide professional, commercial-type ranges and kitchen appliances to meet all of your in-home needs. Viking ranges were not only the first ranges to be submitted to the American Gas Association for certification, but also aided in the creation of several testing procedures. This article will take a closer look at the Viking ranges and refrigeration appliances that can help you create a professional-quality kitchen in your home.

Gas Ranges
Viking offers a number of gas ranges, including the 48-inch custom sealed burner self-cleaning range. This popular appliance uses natural gas and the SureSpark Ignition System for reliable and consistent ignition every time. Complete with the Pro Sealed burner System, automated re-ignition, and six functions, this Viking gas range is a must-have for your professional kitchen.

Electric Ranges
Despite being well-known for natural gas and propane ranges, Viking also offers several electric ranges, including the highly-popular 30-inch electric range. Available in 24 colors, this electric range uses QuickCook™ surface elements with various wattages and ribbon technology to provide full power to each burner in just three seconds.

Freestanding Refrigerators
No kitchen is complete without a professional-quality refrigerator. Viking carries the 36-inch French door bottom-freezer refrigerator, featuring 16.3 cubic feet of refrigerator storage capacity, and 5.5 cubic feet of freezer storage. This appliance is Energy Star qualified, features a door alarm when the door has been ajar for more than five minutes, and electronic controls featuring digital temperature readouts.

Consumer Reports Tips for Buying a Dishwasher

A dishwasher is one of the most valuable appliances in your home, which means you’ll want to do a fair amount of research before making a purchase. In this video, Consumer Reports takes a closer look at how different types of dishwashers held up against a mixture of dried-on cornflakes, bread crumbs, spaghetti, and spinach.

After loading the same number of items into each dishwasher, researches allowed the dishes to sit for hours as they would in your own home before washing them and assessing the results. Watch the full clip to learn what you should be looking for in a dishwasher.

Friedmans Appliances carries a number of dishwashers, including those by GE, Maytag, KitchenAid, and Frigidaire. You can contact our Concord home appliance store today through our website or by calling (925) 265-8402.

How to Load Your New Dishwasher

Loading your dishwasher may seem like a simple enough task, but there are some general guidelines you will want to follow in order to get the most out of your new appliance. Start by placing your pots, plates, and heavy-duty items on the lower rack, as the heat and water pressure is stronger at this level. When stacking your plates, consider staggering small plates in between large ones, as this will keep them from falling over during the cycle. The top rack should be reserved for glasses, mugs, and bowls, leaving some space along the sides of the top rack for pots, pans, and large cookware items.

As a good rule of thumb, you will want to make sure that none of your dishes are directly touching one another, as this may cause them to chip. You will also want to make sure that any silver or stainless steel cookware items are separated, because the metals can be damaged due to chemical reactions of the silver.

Is a Stand-Alone Freezer Right For You?

Frigidaire Gallery Freezer - Available Here at Friedmans Appliance

Are your home appliances serving you in the best way possible? Are they energy efficient? Are they convenient and affordable to use? The next time you’re in a home appliance store, take a serious look at the stand-alone freezers. Installing one in your home could be an excellent investment.

  • A freezer can help you save money: People often reduce their grocery bills by storing large amounts of food they’ve purchased on sale or in bulk. Some shop at warehouse stores, while others take advantage of store sales and coupons. Those who live near farmers’ markets often buy large amounts of fresh produce and freeze it for later use. People with gardens will do the same with their home-grown vegetables. Still others will buy large amounts of meat from their local butchers and stock their freezers with it.
Stand-alone freezers are designed to maintain temperatures that are much lower than the freezer compartments in refrigerators. Because of this, nearly any type of food can be frozen and stored for months at a time. The U. S. Department of Agriculture has helpful guidelines for freezing foods safely and effectively.
  • A freezer saves you time: Many people like to prepare large dishes, like casseroles, and freeze them to use later when they have less time to cook. Others will prepare whole meals and store individual servings that can be reheated. Consider that having large amounts of food on hand also means fewer trips to the market.
  • New models are energy efficient: Look for the Energy Star rating or similar information when you’re at your neighborhood home appliance store in Concord. Many models include estimates of how much they will cost to operate over the course of a year. Over time, your savings on food will likely exceed the cost of the freezer, making it an excellent investment.

When you’re shopping for appliances in Concord, the expert staff at Friedmans Appliance can answer your questions about freezers and a wide range of other home appliances. Call us at (925) 265-8402 to discuss which appliances will be the best fit for your home.
