• Grilling the Perfect Burger

Grilling the perfect burger is equal parts art and science. As you gain more experience behind the grill, you’ll likely perfect your own technique to enhance the flavors of the meat. But for now, watch this demonstration by a professional chef. He strongly recommends selecting an 80/20 grind, which means the beef has 20% fat.

Other tips you’ll learn are to only flip a burger once, and to make a slight indentation in the middle of the burger to prevent puffiness during grilling. Use a meat thermometer before you take your burgers off the grill. They should be cooked to an internal temperature of 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • The Right Way to Clean Your Grill

After grilling, cleaning your grill is essential to ensure that it lasts for as long as possible. However, there is some debate about the right way to clean gas grills. This video offers some advice.

Despite some horror stories about bristles from wire brushes sticking to food, they are still the most effective way to clean after grilling. A ball of aluminum foil is a good stand-in, but avoid trying the trick of placing a sheet of foil over the grill grates to loosen debris. This can cause a flare-up.

Grilling aficionados will find everything that they need at Friedmans Appliance , including gas and electric grills and accessories. To find out more about all of our appliances in Pleasant Hill, please call (925) 808-2950.
